Saturday October 19th, 2019 - Bark in the Park
The Bark in Knapp Park, a fun dog show in Currituck, N.C., was held October 19th. It was a day of happy tail wags and exuberant barking by the most dogs to ever attend a dog show in Currituck, and it provided much enjoyment for their owners as well.
The award for Best in Show went to "Jack", a charming and spirited red miniature Dachshund, who is owned by Camden resident Carolyn Bond. The Runner-Up Best in Show trophy went to Rottweiler "Nyxe",who is owned by Linette Bond, the daughter of Carolyn Bond.

The Judges were: Denise Hall (chm); Bryan Bass; Selina Jarvis; and Joanne Turner. A special feature presentations were:"Pet Therapy Dog Qualifications and How to Get Your Dog Certified to Be a Pet Therapy Dog" presented by Pet Therapy Dog Trainer Lauren Crockett and her pet therapy dog "Glock". Currituck Sheriff's Dept. Canine Unit demonstration under the direction of Deputy Mark Chappell; and "Dog Training for YOU!", which was presented by professional dog trainer Joanne Turner. Dog washing and grooming were available through the Girl Scouts, Troop 521, and professional dog groomer Brittany Weatherly of Bows and Whisker Grooming. In addition we had on-field photos taken by photographer Susan Riggs, formal pet portraits were available through professional photographer Tom Gartman of Shooters at the Beach.
